Welcome!
Since I have the rare privilege of being the only person on the Internet with my name, I get to assume that you are here intentionally. Thanks for coming!
I am an editor and writing coach based in New York City. I can help with everything from developing an initial book idea and outline, to guiding writing and revision, editing chapters, and, finally, copyediting full manuscripts. Clients have published books with prestigious presses (including University of Chicago Press, Columbia University Press, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, and University of California Press), and articles at top journals in their fields.
As much as I love getting into the structural and granular, sentence-by-sentence, substance of writing, I am equally invested in supporting and encouraging you through the challenges of turning a dissertation into a book. Here are links to where you can read more about my editorial services and process, dissertation-to-book development, and about me. Questions? Please feel free to get in touch!
I spent over six years editing an online monthly magazine about religion and media, The Revealer, at New York University. As The Revealer’s editor, my primary focus was on training academics to share their ideas and research with the public. My aim is always to make ideas accessible while preserving their full depth, nuance, and the individual voice of each writer. Through this work, I have honed a range of skills for helping scholars and journalists develop their ideas and their writing.
Before I began working at NYU, I spent three years in a religious studies PhD program at Columbia University. Religious studies is a richly hybrid discipline that bridges anthropology, history, literary studies, and philosophy. I continue to read and work with authors in all of these fields and am now using my training and experience to guide scholars as they develop, write, and publish their monographs.
