I provide a range of editorial services for academic writers including developmental editing, line editing, and copyediting. I can help you start, write, and finish a book or journal article. I love working with scholars at all stages of their career, but am especially invested in the process of developing and publishing first books. If you’re just starting out and need someone to guide you through the process, I’d love to work with you!

Based on a description of the project and a writing sample or excerpt, I will be happy to a provide you with a fee estimate. To learn more, please feel free to get in touch.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING:

Do you have an idea for a book? Or maybe even an outline or draft already finished, but now it’s time to revise and rewrite? I can help you strategize a writing plan, develop and refine your arguments, and structure your final text. Wherever you’re at in the process, no matter how long you’ve put it off or been stuck in one place, I can help you get moving and meet your goals. If you’re specifically looking for help turning your dissertation into an academic monograph, I describe that process in more depth here.

LINE EDITING:

Already finished a draft? Great! I can help you make sure the structure works, the language is smooth and stylish, the grammar and syntax check out, and that the book speaks in your voice. I will work on a sentence-by-sentence level as well as a more macro level to make sure your book is coherent and compelling.

COPYEDITING:

Your book is almost done? Hey, amazing, good job! Seriously. But now your publisher wants it to fit their house style guide, or you’re pretty sure the commas aren’t all where they should be, or you think the sentences could use some punching-up, maybe a few paragraphs are out of order, and you have a hunch that a few pesky tics are too glaring? You need a copyeditor! I can wrangle punctuation into place, tamp down your tics, polish your sentences, straighten out your citations, and make it all fit the style guide you need. It will be fun! I swear.
